Rendezvous

Last week my kid sis came up to visit over her Reading Week. While she had some down time while we were all at work, we did get out and see some sights. We eventually got out skiing at Mt. Sima (and they fixed the chair lift halfway through the day so we could actually get to the top) and she went snowmobiling with some local hotshots. We hung out at the curling rink on Friday night as usual and went for pancake breakfast, checked out the snow sculptures, saw a Rendezvous show, and played shinny. We even got her out to the ice towers to go ice climbing one day!Â
It was really cool that the Yukon Quest was starting in Whitehorse this year so we bundled up and heading downtown to watch the start of the race. It was super cold and clear that day but really neat to see the dogs off.Â
Now it’s time to start gearing up looking for another job. It’s good that I’m a face in the department so I can spread the word a bit more but I also need to keep my options open and continue surfing the YuWin website, job ads, and preparing my resume and cover letter. Hoepfully there won’t be much of a lag time between this job and another source of income, though I do have some exciting trips lined up with ACES this semester. A cross-country ski trip, a bike trip from Haines Junction down through Haines, across on the ferry to Skagway and back to Whitehorse (I better get in shape) some whitewater trips and of course another trip down the Yukon, this time all the way to Dawson City. In that sense I kind hope I don’t get a new job:P
