First Snow!0

We’ve had our first real snow of the season in Thunder Bay. I woke up to a winter wonderland this morning and it didn’t slow down until this afternoon. It’s nice because I like snow but kinda crappy timing since my friend Jamie lent me her car while she’s in Finland for a conference but made PROMISE not to drive it if it snowed. Great, why would I need to drive it if it doesn’t snow? The snow is the reason for needed a car. Well I’ve made it this far without a car I supposed I can continue to soldier on.
But I did borrow Thomas’s cross country gear to for a ski! The boots are about 15 sizes too big but I put on lots of socks. I have a pair of cross-country skis that I found during move out one year but I never got around to finding 3-pin boots to go with it. I think we have some at home and I’ll grab them there. Along with some poles. But since I’m doing a biathlon or anything, Thomas’ gear worked just fine for now. I went out down along the river but was not the first person today to have had this idea, so it was nice to follow in someone’s tracks for a while. Then when I hit the golf course though I had to break trail and the snow was quite deep at points! Then I couldn’t find the trail back by the sweat lodges so I ended up going WAY further than I had originally planned. I’m really tired now.
But I killed an our of time where I didn’t have to write my thesis. I need that time, I should be using it…it’s just painful. I’ve also discovered that writing a journal article is just about as boring as reading a journal article. And it’s not even guaranteed to get published! I can’t imagine all this work for nothing. It’s very de-motivating.
